Magic City Memoirs in the Miami Herald'S People Section

UM film grad Jaydee Freixas is the producer of Magic City Memoirs, a coming-of-age drama that tells the story of three teenage best friends as they struggle to balance their lives amidst the temptations of everyday life in Miami. The film is directed by Aaron Salgado and stars former child actor JR Villareal (Akeelah and the Bee), Natalie Martinez (of the new Fox series Sons of Tuscon) and Dominik Garcia-Lorido, daughter of actor Andy Garcia. Freixas tells us that to keep the authenticity of Miami, they have shot at various locations, including Icon Brickell, Miami Marine Stadium, Pace High School and SET nightclub. Freixas and Salgado's Enlight Films also produced the controversial short film Jamaica Motel in 2006. The filmmakers hope to complete post-production in late August or early September
