LOCKING IT UP!!!
Hello there!!! SO its been a while since we have updated everyone. We have been in Los Angeles the past 3 months working on the final cut of Magic City Memoirs. We are very close to locking the picture and moving into sound design. We are also starting the submissions to film festivals. We will have world premiere information in the next month or so. We would also would like to extend huge gratitude to our friends out here Brett Ratner, Nate Parker, and Michelle Poole. They have been much help and guidance for the project. Another substantial friend of this film is Academy Award Nominated Actor/Director, and Miami's own Andy Garcia. Andy has joined the project as Executive Producer during this editing process, and will take the ride with us all the way through.
We will be posting new updates as they come. Drop us a line here, or on facebook or twitter. Hope all is well.

So, we wrapped principal photography this past week. We finished off the shoot real strong as we shut down lanes on the Rickenbacker Causeway for our car stunts. We also had special cameos and visits to our set from friends and fam. The Enlight Films crew would like to send a huge thank you to all our friends, family, and fans who have been supporting us during our 5-week shoot all around Miami. The shoot could not have been as successful as it was without your support. Please stay tuned to our blog, facebook, and twitter sites as we journey through post-production. Information on the wrap party and other special events will be released very soon. Once again, thank you for all your support and keep following us as we move into the next phase of Magic City Memoirs. Below are some still shots from the final 2 weeks of shooting....enjoy!!

Magic City Memoirs in the Miami Herald'S People Section
UM film grad Jaydee Freixas is the producer of Magic City Memoirs, a coming-of-age drama that tells the story of three teenage best friends as they struggle to balance their lives amidst the temptations of everyday life in Miami. The film is directed by Aaron Salgado and stars former child actor JR Villareal (Akeelah and the Bee), Natalie Martinez (of the new Fox series Sons of Tuscon) and Dominik Garcia-Lorido, daughter of actor Andy Garcia. Freixas tells us that to keep the authenticity of Miami, they have shot at various locations, including Icon Brickell, Miami Marine Stadium, Pace High School and SET nightclub. Freixas and Salgado's Enlight Films also produced the controversial short film Jamaica Motel in 2006. The filmmakers hope to complete post-production in late August or early September

Anchor Bay sails to City Island
Picks up rights to the dramedy from Raymond De Felitta
By Steven Zeitchik
June 18, 2009, 09:32 PM ET
The Overture sister company has picked up all rights in the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand to the Tribeca Film Festival breakout from writer-director Raymond De Felitta.
Paradigm packaged and repped rights to the pic, which stars Andy Garcia, Julianna Margulies and Emily Mortimer in a dramedy about a family on the quiet island off the New York coast.
The movie centers on a repressed corrections officer (Garcia) who harbors acting dreams but who gets caught in a series of misunderstandings when he brings home his secret adult son from a previous marriage to live with his family. The film's centerpiece is a riff from Garcia in which he auditions for a role in a Martin Scorsese movie.
Drawing the tag of a New York "Little Miss Sunshine" from media at Tribeca, "Island" was a crowd-pleaser at the festival, scoring its audience award.
De Felitta and Garcia also produced the movie, while the actor's real-life daughter Dominik Garcia-Lorido starred as his onscreen progeny. Lucky Monkey Pictures' Lauren Versel and FilmSmith's Zachary Matz also produced, while Paradigm's Andrew Ruf negotiated the deal on behalf of the filmmakers.
Anchor Bay plans on a platform release in late '09 or early '10, with a wider rollout to follow.
"We're definitely going to take risks with it, start small and grow it wide," Anchor Bay president Bill Clark said. "Everyone who sees the film loves it, so we think we can capture a broad audience."
Anchor Bay, which is a division of Liberty Media's Starz unit, recently launched a theatrical unit to complement its home video business. The company also has picked up the Ashton Kutcher Sundance drama "Spread," which it plans on releasing in August, and overall aims to release eight to 10 theatrical movies a year

City Island wins Auduence Award @ 2009 Tribeca Film Festival
Andy Garcia starrer centers on dysfunctional N.Y. family
By Steven Zeitchik
The Hollywood ReporterAndy Garcia produces and stars -- and Julianna Margulies, Emily Mortimer and Alan Arkin co-star -- in the story of a family on an island near the Bronx where both children and parents mislead each other about their respective foibles.
Among those deceptions, the father, a prison guard played by Garcia, secretly takes acting lessons while his usually stable wife (Margulies) falls for a worker at their household. Garcia's real-life daughter Domink Garcia Lorido plays one of the couple's children, who is moonlighting as a stripper.
Indie banner Lucky Monkey Pictures produced.
The film's capturing of the Heineken Audience Award should bolster its sales prospects. Paradigm is repping rights to the pic, with several buyers believed to be interested.
On Friday, Tribeca saw a rare sale off a fest screening, with Magnolia paying low- to mid-six figures for world rights to Conor McPherson's supernaturally themed character drama "The Eclipse," which had its world premiere at the festival last weekend.
The fest screens all its winning films Sunday, after formally closing with Fox Searchlight's romantic comedy "My Life in Ruins" on Saturday night.
